Sol Acting Academy Presents: Monologue Boot Camp
Info: Every actor needs audition monologues to dazzle and amaze at a moment’s notice. The Monologue Boot Camp, a two-hour, nine-week class, will help you prepare a solid and appropriate monologue (or several monologues), classical and/or contemporary, for any audition situation. You’ll work with master acting teacher and coach, Robin Lane, also a stage director and Broadway officianada, in order to learn the necessary techniques to astonish your auditors, be it for an onstage production, or film and/or television.
Ever wanted to be a fly on the wall at your last audition, wondering what was said about you or your performance? Robin has sat in on many auditions, and can give you top secret tips on wardrobe, personal introductions, monologue choices, and more. You may, for the first class, bring in one monologue for review (no longer than 1 and 1/2 minutes); or, if you’re not sure how to go about researching an appropriate piece, in its very first class Boot Camp will help you find and employ the proper resources. And at the end of the nine-week course, each of you will perform a chosen monologue in a showcase for an invited audience!

CASTING CALL for “LAST SUMMER”
“Last Summer” is film about a group of friends who embark on a weekend camping trip that turns horrifying when zombies show up, only to find that the most unlikely member of their group eerily has powers that no zombie can match.

GWG Motion Picture Company, an up-and-coming Albuquerque independent film company, is currently looking to fill several different speaking roles for a horror/sci-fi short film scheduled to shoot later this summer. We are looking for male and female actors, ages 18-25, who are not afraid of running, screaming and getting tons of fake blood splattered on them. We have virtually no budget for this picture, but you will get meals during filming, and receive a DVD of the film when it is finished.

Casting for "Domestic Violence Effect" a dramatic short film and PSA exposing the negative effects domestic violence has on children, now and in the future. No violent content, however – the short film will be distributed throughout Northern New Mexico communities, and the PSA will air on New Mexico stations. The project is part of a campaign for the Crisis Center of Northern New Mexico, an Española-based non-profit that assists people and families in making healthy life choices.

Little Broadway- Mini Version of Annie!
Little ones..get ready! Annie has the BEST music, fun costumes, and great simple dance numbers to make your little one SHINE! An orphan, Annie, and her dog Sandy are placed in the lap of luxury for a week as a part of a publicity campain for Oliver Warbucks. However, Annie's stay turns out to be much more than anyone had bargained for as she works her way into everyone's hearts and learns a few things for herself. Each week, we will work on a fun song, dance, acting, and then perform a mini version of Annie, on our last day of class! A great way for your young child to sing, dance , and be creative!

A Million Laughs
This class allows kids to explore all aspects of improvisation, from developing teamwork, funny voices and stories, to creating their very own character on stage. Fall Adult Classes at Sol Acting Academy
Dialects for Adults 101- 5 Week Class Intensive
Tuesday nights, from 6: 30- 8: 30 pm, starting Sept 7- Oct 5, 2010. Dialects are an essential tool for serious actors. Like any other skill an actor possesses, being able to access dialects when needed makes the actor even more versatile and desirable for casting. In this Intensive and Unique 5 week class, students will learn four of the most common dialects used in auditions for the Stage & Screen. Each dialect will be used by students in scenes to be recorded as voiceovers. The class will be taught by local dialect coach Steve Corona, who was Academy-Award winner Helen Mirren’s dialect coach on her film Love Ranch which will be released this summer.
BONUS- Each student will receive copies of their recorded voice over work in class to be used however you choose….as a Demo Reel, for promotional material as an actor, for fun memories, or to impress your friends!

The Monologue Boot Camp, a 2-hour, 9-week class, will help you prepare a solid and appropriate monologue (or several monologues), classical and/or contemporary, for any audition situation. You’ll work with master acting teacher and coach, Robin Lane, also a stage director and Broadway performer, in order to learn the necessary techniques to astonish your auditors, be it for an onstage production, or film and/or television.
Ever wanted to be a Fly on the wall at your last audition, wondering what was said about you or your performance? Robin has sat in on many auditions, and can give you top secret tips on wardrobe, personal introductions, monologue choices, and MORE! We will cover different styles of makeup such as using makeup to change the appearance of your age, create wounds, scars and burns, period makeup such as Greek, Renaissance, and Jazz Age, creating animals, and changing your gender using makeup and fake hair. Each week we will learn and practice something new. Each student will receive a Ben Nye Makeup Kit that they will be able to keep once class is over. This is a great kit that can be used over and over again with high quality professional makeup. It is extremely important that you register before the deadline and under the Section “Anything else we should know about you” on the registration, please fill in the section with your skin tone and hair color so we can prepare your class materials for you. Mini Beauty and the Beast!
Tale as old as time, true as it can be. Disney's BEAUTY AND THE BEAST, the smash hit Broadway musical, is coming to Sol Acting Academy! Based on the Academy Award-winning animated feature film, we will perform a Mini version of this super fun musical in 6 weeks! This classic musical love story is filled with unforgettable characters, costumes, and dazzling singing and dancing! Great chance to try a new adventure in Drama!
Disney's BEAUTY AND THE BEAST is the classic story of Belle, a young woman in a provincial town, and the Beast, who is really a young prince trapped in a spell placed by an evil enchantress. If the Beast can learn to love and be loved, the curse will end and he will be transformed to his former self. But time is running out. If the Beast does not learn his lesson soon, he and his household will be doomed for all eternity. The last 30 minutes of the last class will be our performance, starring you, for friends and family!

Teen Acting for Film, Television and Commercials
This class allows teens to explore all aspects of acting in the exciting world of Film, Movies and Television! At Sol Acting Academy, the scripts we use are based on real movies and TV shows, like Twilight, Mean Girls, Princess Bride, Elf, and 50 First Dates! The students get to decide what types of scenes they want to work on, so this class is always different and challenging! We will also cover auditioning for movies, commercials, and learn lots of hilarious improv games you can teach your friends! The last class will be a show starring you on our television for friends and family! Meet new friends and learn where to find real Movie auditions and casting calls in ABQ!!

Creative Tip of the Week
Kids- Make you OWN film festival with your friends. Ask your parents to borrow their cameras ( either a digital camera with video, or a real camcorder if you have one) and make a Film Festival. Decide surprise catagories or funny props you have to use on your movie, and you only have one after noon to make it! Then, get together to watch everyones masterpiece!
Adults- AUDITION Native Americans/ Canadian actors
Writer/Director, Brooke Pepion Swaney, is casting her film, "Spark the Punk", and she needs to find some New Mexico NativeAmerican/Canadian actors, union or non, either will work.
Here is what they are looking for:
LOUISA [mid 20s] - Native American. Harboring a dislike for most people, a great wit, and a drinking problem, Louisa protects her vitally sensitive inner core through external hardness. Grew up off the rez. Striking. Wiry. Long hair.
LOUIS SR [50s] - Native American. Louisa's father. He regrets watching his daughter go down the same path. Great sense of humor and uses it to his advantage. Works as a counselor and sometimes forgets not to be on the job with his family. Rotund.
MAN [60s] - Native American. Trickster. Wild. Smart but sometimes does not see the outcome of his actions. Also Striking and wiry.
Production will pay for transport and accommodation for the actors from Seattle.
SHOOT DATES: September 15 - 20 2010 in Montana.
We will be meeting crew in Seattle and will pick up actors from the airport and driving to Montana. Crew, gear and actors will be needed SEPTEMBER 13, returning the gear back on SEPTEMBER 21 (and actors can head back to New Mexico)
For the actors, it would be a low low pay sort of deal. Director is doing some fund raising so there is pay of $100/day at this stage. That may change if more funds are raised. Travel and accommodation will be provided to those that are coming from afar.
POSSIBLE AUDITION DATES:
1) First stage is to send in picture/headshots and CV if you have one. Then a demo tape can be sent to Director, based on sides. I can give more info if you contact me...
2) Short List- Those that make it past short listing could have a potential audition on either August 7th/8th potentially (waiting to see what kind of response to know if we need both days)
If you have some actors or know any that might be available and interested in this project could you pass this info along to them, it would be greatly appreciated. Any suggestions as to where to post an ad or who to call would also be appreciated as well!
